I recently visited Decorex, THE place to be to discover the best and most coveted luxury products in the Interior Design world. It basically is paradise for great design, amazing talent, and fresh interior decor ideas all under one roof. There was so much to see and so much to take in! A few observations... There was a LOT of wall covering stands. Understandably so, and they are getting more innovative every year! Also, if you are thinking of starting a business in wall coverings, BEWARE there is a lot of competition out there. Really, a lot so you need to do something different to stand out. I have found a few that did, as you'll see! The same goes for fabrics. Upholstering, soft furnishings, curtains. Even...
Last week Dulux has revealed the colour of the year for 2016. And Cherished Gold it is! Last year's was copper blush, so it stays firmly within the trend of warm metallic colours. It is great to see gold and tones of gold being used more often, I am really drawn to gold accessories (as you can see here!) and it adds a certain sophistication to a room. It is still flexible though, combine it with dark colours (thought of navy? emerald green?) and it's pure glam, pair it with light colours and it's more casual. How about grey, blacks & whites? You get an edgy trendy room décor! Having seen it pop up as the colour of 2016, just reminded me of...
This post is about using gift wrapping paper to decorate multiple rooms in the house, and in many different ways! Have you thought of that? It first occurred to me when I was shopping for stationary and I saw a beautiful paper on display, and I instantly thought 'I could actually frame that!' It is a very affordable way to change the look in your rooms and add bags of style! Since then I have been looking for ideas and also for wrapping paper out there with the most potential to be used as decoration. Here's some of the best I found: I love these from Notonthehighstreet.com, there's so much you could do with it! Framing, decoupage, covering storage boxes. The colours on these...
A few months ago I shared our plans to re-decorate the lounge (here), it's taken a little while as we have been busy with the little one and I also had a month off while visiting the family in Brazil, but the time has finally come to reveal it! Before we get picture heavy, this is what we did to update the room: Painted the walls in a modern grey "Urbanite": this was the most dramatic change and all credit goes to my awesome husband who has taken on the project while I was away with Baby L, we have high ceilings and it has taken him almost 4 pots of paint and 4 days to get it done, and...
Blush pink has been on trend for a while now, pairing with copper and tones of beige, white, corals and pastel colours. We have seen it pretty much everywhere. Yes, it is a feminine colour and not one that would be chosen by everyone especially when you are decorating a family home or a couples nest. However, have you thought of pairing it with dark colours? I have done that and I love the result. They're deep and bring attitude and personality to a room. Navy and blush pink pairing is my latest obsession... I love how the pale pink looks more mature and how the dark navy looks softer. Perfect combo! I have been finding inspiration in the images below, most...
